Tarim Oilfield breaks the record of the first Deep well in Asia

The reporter learned from PetroChina's Tarim Oilfield on the 25th that the Luntian 1 well, which is in charge of the oil field, has been drilled smoothly, with a current depth of 8882 meters, making it the deepest well on land in Asia at present. The successful drilling of the well indicates that the ultra-deep well drilling technology in Tarim Oilfield has reached the leading level in the world.

"after comparison and inquiry by researchers, this well is by far the deepest well drilled on land in Asia." Qiu Bin, manager of the exploration department of Tarim Oilfield, said, "the height of Mount Qomolangma is 8848 meters, while the current depth of our Wheel Exploration 1 well is 8882 meters, which is equivalent to piercing a Mount Qomolangma underground."

The western region of China is rich in natural gas resources, accounting for about 60% of the total natural gas resources in China, especially in the Tarim Basin in Xinjiang, which accounts for 22% of the total natural gas resources in China. However, the Tarim Basin has poor surface environment and complex underground conditions, which is considered to be one of the most difficult areas for oil and gas exploration in the world.

"well 1 was drilled on June 28 last year to find oil and gas replacement areas in deep strata." Cai Zhenzhong, director of resources exploration in Tarim Oilfield, said, "after many tools reach a certain depth, because high temperature and high pressure cannot continue to work, the difficulty of every dozen 100 meters after the well depth is greater than 6000 meters increases exponentially."

In the face of the extreme shortage of geological data in well Wheel Exploration 1 and the difficult drilling problems such as ultra-deep, ultra-high pressure and ultra-high temperature, Tarim Oilfield has carried out optimization demonstration from the aspects of wellbore structure, drilling tool tensile resistance, hydraulic mechanics, etc., optimizing wellbore structure and optimizing custom bits. A series of drilling problems such as ultra-high pressure, ultra-high temperature and ultra-high ground stress have been successfully overcome, and the bit has been delivered to a depth of nearly 9000 meters.
